CABI, Edward Elgar and Royal College of Surgeons of England take advantage of GetFTR’s “free tier” initiative.
Get Full Text Research (GetFTR) is delighted to welcome three new publishing organizations, all of whom have recently gone live with GetFTR. GetFTR is designed to improve the journey from discovery to access, and to support publishers in helping their researchers quickly reach the latest version of published content they are entitled to read, either via their institutional subscriptions or because the content is free or open access.
GetFTR is committed to supporting all publishers, regardless of their size, and so set up an initiative which waives the financial commitment for any publisher with less than 40,000 registered DOIs and hosted on a platform provided by one of partner vendors (currently Atypon, Silverchair and PubFactory).
Tim Williams, Managing Director, Edward Elgar Publishing said “By streamlining the user journey GetFTR supports our mission to effectively disseminate and increase the usage of our books and articles, maximizing the impact of a publication for our authors. Participation from across the industry is vital for the wide adoption of the service and we appreciate the free tier service and support of our platform provider PubFactory in enabling independents to join the initiative.”
Mandy Webb, Head of Publishing for Royal College of Surgeons of England commented: “We are always striving to find ways to support our community and our membership. Anything that can help disseminate the research published in our journals and make it easier for our community to access that content supports our mission. We appreciate how easy GetFTR and Atypon have made it for smaller publishing operations to benefit from the service.”
“At CABI we are always looking for ways to lower the barriers to access content, so we are very excited to work with GetFTR through our partner Atypon to improve the researcher experience”, said Lieke Boerefijn-van Schaaijk, Platform Manager. “This aligns with our efforts to support study, research and practice across the life sciences with our new CABI Digital Library and supports CABI’s mission to improve people’s lives worldwide by providing information and applying expertise to solve problems in agriculture and the environment. As a non-profit organization, we especially appreciate the free tier programme that allows us to participate in this initiative at no costs.”
Dianne Benham, Product Director for GetFTR said “We are seeing more and more interest from smaller publishers keen to make use of our free tier initiative. We know from our case studies and research that GetFTR improves visibility and usage of content, and supports the researcher in their journey. We have always been committed to ensuring the benefits of GetFTR are available to all publishers, large and small, and we appreciate the support of our platform vendor partners who have worked hard to ensure the process of implementing GetFTR is straightforward.”
GetFTR encourages smaller publishers who are clients of Atypon, PubFactory or Silverchair to get in touch to discuss the free tier initiative.
