PNAS Partners with GetFTR to Improve Discovery and Access to Trusted Research

London, United Kingdom, June 16, 2026

GetFTR (Get Full Text Research) announces that the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) has joined its rapidly growing network of leading scholarly publishers and platforms.

As one of the world’s most cited and respected multidisciplinary journals, PNAS brings high-quality peer-reviewed scientific outputs into the GetFTR ecosystem, enabling researchers to discover and access trusted full-text content quickly and confidently.

Strengthening Discovery and Access Across the Research Workflow

Through its integration with GetFTR, PNAS enables researchers to more easily identify and access trusted content when they encounter PNAS articles across participating research and discovery tools such as Web of Science and Scopus, and across the wider web, including AI assistants, search engines, discovery services, knowledge platforms and any website citing academic research, through the GetFTR Browser Extension.

When researchers encounter relevant PNAS content, GetFTR indicators clearly signal access to the version of record, whether through subscription, open access or free content, helping to reduce friction and eliminate dead ends in the research journey.

PNAS has also incorporated GetFTR links within its article references, allowing researchers to quickly identify which cited articles are available to them.

Advancing Research Access at Global Scale

Published by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, PNAS disseminates high-impact research broadly across the biological, physical, and social sciences to a global audience. The nonprofit, mission-driven journal publishes more than 3,500 research papers annually and is widely used by scientists, policymakers, clinicians, and interdisciplinary research communities.

By joining GetFTR, PNAS continues its commitment to removing barriers to high-quality scientific information and supporting the global research ecosystem.

Diane Sullenberger, PNAS Publisher, commented on the partnership:

“At PNAS, our mission is to advance science by disseminating high-quality research as broadly and efficiently as possible. Partnering with GetFTR helps researchers quickly find the authoritative versions of record they are entitled to access, wherever they encounter our content online. We’re pleased to collaborate on improving the efficiency of researcher access while maintaining rights management and publisher integrity”

Heather Staines, Head of Business Development at GetFTR, welcomed PNAS to the cross-industry initiative:

“We are thrilled to have PNAS join the GetFTR community. Their reputation for scientific excellence makes this an important milestone in our work to support fast access to trusted scholarly content. As more high-impact publishers adopt GetFTR, researchers benefit from a smoother path to the articles they rely on to drive discovery and innovation”
