New features improve discovery and access
At GetFTR, our goal is to make it easier for researchers to access the academic content they need, quickly and reliably. We are excited to share several new features designed to improve both discovery and access, whether you’re using GetFTR as a researcher, integrator, or publisher.
These features are immediately available for anyone integrating with the free GetFTR entitlement checking service.
Clear License Information: Making Usage Rights Transparent
Researchers often want to know what they can do with the content they are reading, and publishers and libraries are keen to communicate these rights to their readers. With our new license information feature, integrators can display usage rights directly within their platforms and tools.
The GetFTR Browser Extension is the first to utlise this feature, showing license details in the hover state. By clicking on the license, researchers can quickly find out if they can share, adapt, or reuse the content.
See below for an example. This feature is available to all of our integrators.
Connecting Preprint to Version of Record
Preprint servers can now add GetFTR links from preprint to the version of record where a DOI has been determined by the metadata. If the researcher is entitled to read the article through their institution subscription, or the content is open or free to read, GetFTR will make sure they are taken directly to the trusted source.
Researchers already benefit from GetFTR links for preprints via the GetFTR Browser Extension.

Drop In GetFTR Buttons
For discovery tools and other integrators that want to display GetFTR buttons directly on their websites without building a backend or API integration we have introduced the GetFTR Drop-In Button.
With just a few lines of HTML and JavaScript integrators can place GetFTR full text buttons on to search results, article pages, references and more.
Get in touch to find out how we can support you and your community
At GetFTR, we’re constantly evolving to meet the needs of the research community.
Our goal is to make it easier for researchers to access the content they need, while helping discovery partners improve their platforms and supporting publishers in serving their communities.
Don’t forget we also offer the opportunity for discovery tools and publishers to add Retraction and Errata information to their search results, article lists, references and more. See this example from Taylor & Francis Online.

If you’re interested in learning more, or already know you want to integrate with the free GetFTR service to benefit from realtime, DOI-level entitlement checks conducted by publishers, smart links to the trusted content, retraction, update and license information, visit our website or contact dianne@getfulltextresearch.com
