As we head towards the end of the first quarter of 2026 we would like to look back at recent developments and ahead to what’s coming next.
2025 was another year of rapid change in how research is discovered, particularly with the rise of AI tools. As we move into Q2, our focus remains clear: connecting discovery directly to trusted full text.
In today’s scholarly landscape, researchers access content through a wide range of channels including aggregators, syndication platforms, institutional search platforms, AI tools, reference links, and publisher websites. While the whole research communications ecosystem makes research more accessible than ever, it also introduces challenges.
AI-powered research assistants are rapidly becoming part of the scholarly workflow. Tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Scite and Scisummary are helping researchers discover relevant academic content faster than ever before. Researchers are increasingly identifying articles directly within AI-generated responses.
GetFTR (Get Full Text Research) is pleased to announce significant expansion across its publisher network and research-discovery ecosystem, reflecting its commitment to supporting organisations of all sizes and strengthening global access to trusted scholarly content.
GetFTR, the global content access platform connecting users to the full text of trusted academic content, has launched a new capability that allows AI-powered research tools and agents to check content entitlements in real time and generate “smart links” to send users to authoritative full text.
