It’s been a busy few months for GetFTR, with new publishers joining, more research and discovery tools integrating, and evidence of the impact we’re making.
Emerald Publishing sees a 3.5% increase in usage with GetFTR
A recent study by Emerald Publishing showed a 3.5% increase in article usage attributable to their integration with GetFTR, providing valuable evidence that improving the journey from discovery to full text can translate into increased engagement with publisher content.
For publishers and libraries alike, the results highlight how making scholarly content easier to discover and access can help maximise the visibility, reach and value of their collections, which is essential in a zero-click world.
New Partners and Integrations
We’re delighted to welcome Bioscientifica, a not-for-profit publisher owned by the Society for Endocrinology, and the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), one of the world’s most respected medical journals published by the Massachusetts Medical Association,, to the GetFTR community.
Both partnerships further strengthen GetFTR’s growing network, helping more researchers connect with authoritative scholarly content wherever they begin their research journey.
We’re also pleased to share that four more research and discovery tools are integrating with GetFTR:
In addition, NEJM and Rockefeller University Press (RUP), have integrated on article references, to improve readers onward journeys.
Through GetFTR, these platforms and services will be able to provide researchers with clear access indicators and direct smart links to authoritative publisher content, on publisher and aggregator platforms that partner with GetFTR, improving the user experience.
Product Update
Safari Browser Extension
Development is underway to bring the GetFTR Browser Extension to Safari, extending its availability to more researchers and making it easier to connect with trusted full-text content wherever it’s discovered on the web.
GetFTR Benchmarking
Partners often ask how their content is performing compared to others. GetFTR. is investigating a benchmarking reports tool, if you are interested in learning more, please get in touch.
Exploring AI entitlements and content provisioning
As AI-powered tools become an increasingly important part of research workflows, new questions are being asked around content entitlements and provisioning.
GetFTR is keen to hear from publishers and AI tool providers about their needs and explore where our shared infrastructure might have a role to play. If you are interested in joining the conversation please get in touch with Dianne to discuss.
Case Studies and Insights
Scite: Connecting AI-powered discovery with trusted full text
Scite, a citation-intelligence platform now part of Research Solutions, integrated with GetFTR in July 2025. Our case study explores how the integration helps researchers move directly from its AI-enabled discovery tool to verified full-text content in a single click, reducing unnecessary barriers to access.
Crossref metadata: The foundation of trusted discovery
Metadata is the important but often invisible infrastructure connecting research, publishers and discovery services. In our recent article, we explore how Crossref metadata supports reliable discovery, access and research integrity. As research journeys become more complex, maintaining high-quality metadata is more important than ever in helping researchers find and access content they can trust.
Measuring impact
When content is being discovered and read in so many different places, how can publishers accurately measure engagement?
In our recent article, we explore the challenges facing traditional usage measurement and the importance of understanding how researchers engage with scholarly content across different environments.
