In this Q3 edition, we’re sharing a product update, welcoming new integrators, highlighting our latest case studies, and inviting you to join us at upcoming events.

Product Update

License Information Available for GetFTR Integrations

The GetFTR browser extension now displays licence information when hovering on the GetFTR button. To identify reuse rights, researchers can click on the license button to access the Creative Commons website – get in touch if you’d like this feature in your integration

Save to Reference Manager via the GetFTR Browser Extension

We have upgraded the central entitlement service, which enables GetFTR to take entitlement decisions on the publisher’s behalf, improving response times and reducing the volume of requests to the publisher – get in touch if you’re a publisher that’s interested in sharing entitlements with GetFTR to improve your response times

Faster Entitlement Decisions

If you’re keen to integrate with GetFTR in your tool, you can now come onboard quicker with our new drop-in GetFTR buttons feature. Just add a simple script, and buttons will appear to indicate full-text availability and provide streamlined access.

New Integrations

We’ve expanded our network with new integrations from Article Galaxy, Piri Discovery Service, Chemport, CAB Abstracts and Global Health (see CABI Case Study below). We have also strengthened partnerships with Edinburgh University Press and the Geological Society of London who have both added GetFTR indicators and smartlinks into article references to improve onward journeys; additionally Wiley Online has added Retraction and Errata buttons to their search results.

These integrations make it easier for researchers to discover and  access full-text content directly from discovery tools and reference lists. Get in touch to find out more about our integration opportunities.

Case Studies

CABI and GetFTR: Enhancing Access and Impact Across the Global Research Community

CABI, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving lives through science-based solutions in agriculture and the environment, recently extended its partnership with GetFTR to utilise both our service offerings (as a publisher and as a discovery resource). We are excited to share a case study showing how mission-driven publishers can work with GetFTR to expand researcher engagement and increase their impact.

AI Tools + GetFTR: Make the Research Pathway from Discovery to Access Smarter

The recent integration between GetFTR and Scite highlights how AI tools can give researchers faster, more reliable access to trusted full-text content. It’s free for any AI tool that wants to integrate with GetFTR, making it easy to link to sources and improve the research experience.

Browser Extension Promotion

We encourage all publishers and librarians to promote the free GetFTR Browser Extension through your networks to ensure your researchers are able to easily access the content that has been made available to them, wherever they discover it, with no additional work for the librarian.  We have a number of resources to help you promote the service here

We would love to hear from you if you want to discuss how we can better support you in your efforts

And finally…

Part of our strategy is to expand into new markets, both to engage and inform more librarians and researchers, and to partner with more publishers. We are looking at raising awareness of GetFTR across LATAM, Asia and Africa and would love to hear from you if you can help.
