On the road to launch – A few updates from the GetFTR pilot

21st October 2020

Nearly a year on from announcing the GetFTR initiative, we have been piloting the service over the past few months. Speaking with the wider research community, listening to integrators, publishers, librarians, and our advisory board, we have been busy making changes and enhancing those we already offer to ensure that researchers are able to easily access the scholarly content they need.

So where are we on the road to launch? Read on for the latest pilot updates:

GetFTR is now compatible with IP authentication and proxies

Thanks to the feedback from those who have been test driving GetFTR since the pilot began in April, GetFTR now includes support for institutions using IP authentication and proxy servers alongside federated authentication, expanding the number of institutions that can benefit from GetFTR and enhancing support for on-campus use.

We are delighted to have welcomed new publishers and platforms onboard

Several new publishers, integrators, and platforms have been joining GetFTR, making the service even better by providing more researchers with streamlined access to more scholarly content

  • AIP, ASCE and JAMA are joining as publishers
  • Silverchair have announced they’ll be supporting the service as a publishing platform
  • Atypon are now able to activate GetFTR for their clients upon request
  • LibKey from Third Iron, CHORUS, Cactus Communications and SpringerNature Experiments are all working on their integration
